Bosnia Currency Explained: The Convertible Mark

Bosnia and Herzegovina uses the Convertible Mark, written KM or BAM. It is the country's only official currency.
The Mark is pegged to the euro at a fixed rate of about one euro to 1.96 Marks, so its value stays stable and predictable. Some hotels and tourist sites will accept euros, but you will almost always get better value paying in Marks.
Cards are widely accepted in cities, and ATMs are easy to find. Prefer bank ATMs, and if a machine offers to charge you in your home currency, decline it and pay in Marks for a fairer rate.
